Mamas Lyrics
[Verse 1: Anne Wilson]
I don’t know why God made one-bedroom apartments out of state
I don’t know why He made hometowns if it’s somewhere I can’t stay
I don’t know why He made growing up but I guess that we’re all gonna
Yeah, I don’t know a lot of things but I know why God made mamas
[Chorus: Anne Wilson]
For the open arms to fall into
For the when you don’t know what to do
For the phone call sayin’, “Don’t forget, I’m always in your corner”
For the heart that makes a house a home
For the knowing that you’re not alone
For the “Darling, don’t you dare give up even when you wanna”
Yeah, that’s why God made mamas
[Verse 2: Hillary Scott]
For putting band-aids on a scrapеd up knee and wiping tears away
For picking up the piecеs when that dream don’t go your way
For always giving more than taking, always knowing what ya need
And showing you that fighting’s always best done on your knees
[Chorus: Anne Wilson]
For the open arms to fall into
For the when you don’t know what to do
For the phone call sayin’, “Don’t forget, I’m always in your corner”
For the heart that makes a house a home
For the knowing that you’re not alone
For the “Darling, don’t you dare give up even when you wanna”
Yeah, that’s why God made mamas
[Post-Chorus: Anne Wilson & Hillary Scott]
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh (Oh-oh-oh-oh)
Mamas, mamas
[Bridge: Anne Wilson & Hillary Scott]
I don’t know why God made living life down here so hard to do
But I know why God made mamas ’cause He knew I needed you
Oh-oh, oh-oh
[Chorus: Anne Wilson & Hillary Scott]
For the open arms to fall into (To fall into)
For the when you don’t know what to do (Know what to do)
For the phone call sayin’, “Don’t forget, I’m always in your corner”
(I’m always in your corner)
For the heart that makes a house a home
For the knowing that you’re not alone (Not alone)
For the “Darling, don’t you dare give up even when you wanna”
Yeah, that’s why God made mamas (Mamas)
[Post-Chorus: Anne Wilson]
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh (Mamas)
Oh-oh-oh-oh (Mamas)
(Mamas)
Mm-mm-mm (Mamas)

She loved to make sense of the world around her and gaze up at the stars on clear nights. As a practicing Christian, Wilson also desired to explore God’s creation—like space.
Her pathway through life seemed all but decided until one event altered the trajectory of her life. In 2017, Wilson’s brother Jacob passed away in a car accident at twenty-three years old. In the wake of his death, Wilson began to sing in honor of him. And, as it turns out, Wilson was pretty good at it.
Just a few years later, Wilson released her debut single, “My Jesus,” and found enormous success among the Christian music community
Anne Wilson said about her song : Mama’s : ” I’ve always been a huge fan of country music. I grew up on it. We wanted a female country artist to feature on the song, because the song was so important to me and I wanted it to get the attention that it deserved. So, I wanted to feature a country artist on there, to have another female voice and to have someone who was really strong in the country scene to stand for mamas.”
–via Apple Music (April, 2022). “Mamas” is a love letter to all our Mamas and an anthem for the people who love them wholly.
Wilson writes, “No matter what kind of Mama you are, y’all are doing the Lord’s work!! We wanted this song to capture the hearts of so many different people. Whether it’s a song for you about your mom, or because you’re a mom, or maybe it’s your grandmother that raised you, or a different mother figure in your life.”
Wilson created the video with Hillary Scott, her little girls and her own mother. “I got to surprise her by singing this song to her on set. She had no idea it was coming. Tears were flying!!
“Mom, you are my hero. You are my biggest inspiration, and you have always been such an incredible mom to me. You have raised me in the most beautiful way, always laying a foundation of Jesus, and I couldn’t be more grateful for you. I love you so much.”. “I’m honored to join Anne on a song and video that shows the unbelievable journey of motherhood,” Scott tells People. “I am also excited that I got to film my part of the video with my daughters and have a precious time stamp of them in this phase forever.” “Out of all the names I answer to, hearing ‘Mama'(even what feels like 10,000 times a day most days) … my heart leaps EVERY time — whether it’s in joy and curiosity after just discovering something new to show me, or when I know tears are going to follow because of pain, confusion or frustration and they need comfort,” Scott shares on social media. “When Anne Wilson asked me to sing alongside her on this song, it was an absolute yes! She’s got country roots and a precious soul.”

But I know why God made mamas ’cause He knew I needed you ” : : : : : : LABYRINTH_CFW- Denver native Patricia Pearce prays in the center of the Labyrinth at Central Presbyterian Church in downtown Denver, CO. Pearce, of Philadelphia, PA, has returned to Denver, to be with her mother who is in Hospice care with late stages of cancer. Pearce grew up attending the church with her family. Of walking the Labyrinth she says, “I find it to be a very meaningful. It gives me an opportunity to open myself to the leading of the spirit. Sometimes I come with a specific question and sometimes I just come to open myself. The labyrinth for me is a powerful metaphor for the spiritual journey, that can take us in all different directions. It’s different than a maze- that has deadlines- and right choices and wrong choices. With the labyrinth you can’t get lost. The path will always lead you towards the center. So for me it teaches trust- you can trust the journey. There is a stillness I experience when I get to the center. I like to be there for a moment and give myself over to it. With this transition in my life… with my mom, I’m giving myself over to whatever is to come. ” (Craig F. Walker/The Denver Post.) (Photo By Craig F.
